Lines of Research:

  • Functional characterization of SCF E3 ubiquitin ligase (FBXO7/PARK15). The Fbxo7/PARK15 protein is associated with cancer and Parkinson’s disease. We identified by ProtoArrays® ubiquitination, several substrates related to intracellular processes crucial in these pathologies, such as mitochondrial homeostasis (mitophagy) and in the NF-kB and Wnt pathways. This project aims to understand the mechanisms of regulation of Fbxo7/PARK15 in these pathways from the determination of the functional relationship of this E3 ligase and its substrates associated with these processes.
  • Identification of substrates of SCF E3 ubiquitin ligase (Fbxl17). The Fbxl17 protein is directly associated with breast cancer, presenting several mutations/truncations in sequenced patient samples. In this project, in collaboration with Dr. Heike Laman, Dr. Paul Edwards (Universisty of Cambridge), and Prof. Dr. Marcelo D. Gomes FMRP/USP, we will use protein microarrays (ProtoArrays®) to identify substrates of this E3 ligase
